Paul A. Kaufman is a British television and film director.

BiographyEdit

Kaufman was born in London, UK, on December 2, 1964. At 18 years old, he was already living in California where he had his first job as a messenger for Go-Between in Hollywood, and by the time he was 19 years old, he was managing the careers of Josh Brolin and Esai Morales. Later on he would study acting with Anthony Abeson from The Actors Studio in New York. By now, he holds a triple citizenship for The United Kingdom, The United States and Canada.

Kaufman made his directorial debut with his own project Run the Wild Fields for Showtime, which earned critical appraisal and an Emmy Award for Best Director. Several others of his film projects, be it as director and/or producer, have too earned him nominations and awards through the years, like Jewel that was nominated for a Humanitas Award, Sins of the Mother earned him a NAACP Award for Best Television Movie or Mini-series in 2011, and Magic Beyond Words: The JK Rowling Story added a Directors Guild of Canada nomination and a Canadian Screen Award for Best Television Movie or Miniseries. Currently he has produced over 20 titles.

For Television, Kaufman has directed episodes for series like Flashpoint, Beauty & the Beast, Grimm, The Mentalist, The Messenger and NCIS: Los Angeles.

He served two terms on the Board of Governors at The Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, was the Chairman of The Primetime Emmy Awards, where he supervised and oversaw the awards show and telecast, and has also served on the Television Committee at BAFTA. Kaufman is a member of The Directors Guild of America, BAFTA, The Writers Guild of America, The Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, The Directors Guild of Canada and The Producers Guild of America.
